Huskies Run Win Streak to 15 Straight
Game One
Game Two
BLOOMSBURG-- Bloomsburg University swept a doubleheader in softball from Holy Family University by scores of 4-0 and 8-0 in six innings. The Huskies have now won 15 straight games.
In the opener pitcher Ashley Lynn (Riverside/Danville) tossed a three-hit shutout for her 10th win of the season. Lynn struck out eight and did not walk a batter. Offensively, the Huskies got the only run they would need in the first inning when Mandy Koch (Dauphin/Central Dauphin) tripled and came in to score on a sacrifice fly by Lacy Mauro (Jersey Shore/Jersey Shore). Bloomsburg made it 3-0 in the fourth when it took advantage of three Holy Family errors to get two runs with Jill Homyak (Lehighton/Marian Catholic) driving in one run with a single. The Huskies final run came in the fifth when Mauro doubled and scored on a single by Stacey Krupiewski (Trooper/Methacton). Koch and Homyak each had two hits in the game for Bloomsburg.
In game two, Jenna Hampton (Catawissa/Southern Columbia) went 4-4, while Krupiewski drove in two runs to back the two-hit pitching of Sheelin Fisher (Coplay/Allentown Central Catholic).
Bloomsburg scored twice in the first inning with Mauro and Krupiewski driving in runs, then made it a 3-0 game in the third when Jen Miller (Muir/Williams Valley) scored on a Natalie Zimmerman (State College/State College) single. The Huskies won the game with five runs in the bottom of the sixth inning with Miller driving home Nikki Shiko (Kulpmont/Southern Columbia) with the game-winner.
The Huskies, now 23-2, will play at Shippensburg on Wednesday at 2:30 p.m.
